Overview

At Houston Methodist, the Service Line Clinical Value Analysis position is responsible for for investigating products, procedures or processes that will improve operational and clinical efficiency, increase the quality of patient care and reduce supply expenditures. This position serves as a Supply Chain expert in the Value Analysis process of achieving optimal cost, quality and outcomes in relation to medical products or services.

Responsibilities

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates with the Clinical Value Analysis committees on strategy and agendas.
  • Prepares in coordination with the Clinical Value Analysis commitees the monthly reporting for cost and outcomes impact and progress to goals that are reported to the Steering Committee.
  • Coordinates with the appropriate supply chain staff on initiatives and requests to support the value analysis recommendation for clinical decision-making.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Facilitates a system consensus decision-making process for Value Analysis committees in their review of products, services, capital and savings/standardization opportunities.
  • Collaborates with other departments regarding product and/or service process issues. Proactively recognizes issues/concerns, determines a plan of action, and responds in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate planning and directing of product conversions, new product introduction and process flows for Supply Chain.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Reports the results of a trial in a clear and unbiased manner to the value analysis committee and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitates a transparent and structured data collection and reporting process for formal evaluations. Ensures that follow-up has occurred on any concerns or issues identified by stakeholders.
  • Supports the hospital and system quality intiatives through effective review and implementation of approved products and services

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborates with the clinical and administrative leadership across the Houston Methodist System to drive accountability for quality goods and services that are standardized and cost effective
  • Conducts financial modeling with guidance that includes the total costs of product change. Considers: labor and nonlabor costs, reimbursement, incentives and share back opportunities, cost avoidance and quality outcomes.
  • Manages annual savings targets for assigned service.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Researches clinical evidence for best practices around medical and surgical products, technology, capital and services as well as clinical practice variation.
  • Maintains knowledge of the internal and external drivers for change in medical surgical products, medical technology, services and clinical best practice.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree
  • Masters degree or clinical experience preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Two (2) years of experience in value analysis, medical sales, supply chain and/or patient care experience in a clinical setting

License/Certification
