The Drs. Li and Hu lab at the Houston Methodist Research Institute is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to contribute to studying peripheral nerve diseases. This position offers a blend of basic and clinical research, focusing on understanding how genetic variants in inherited peripheral neuropathies influence intercellular interactions among myelinating Schwann cells, axons, and macrophages, and how these changes lead to axonal loss and demyelination. This research aims to identify molecular targets that can be translated into clinical applications for biomarker development and therapeutic interventions. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated research assistant to support molecular biology and morphological experiments, and animal colony management. Ideal candidates will possess excellent lab skills and a keen interest in neuroscience. We offer comprehensive training in required techniques and a supportive work environment.
