Overview

At Houston Methodist, the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Coordinator position is responsible for assisting with the overseeing and managing of assigned CME activities and projects at Houston Methodist (HM). Primary activity types for this position include web-based, live, in-person and associated materials, Journal CME, seminars, and Regularly Scheduled Series, in accordance with HM policies and Business Practices, and Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) guidelines and policies. The CME Coordinator position supports the execution of educational activities (conferences, workshops and webinars) including registration, preparing documents, tracking attendees, etc. This position also attends selected CME presentations to provide on-site assistance with program implementation.

Responsibilities

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develops and maintains relationships with medical/executive leadership.
  • Provides communications for customers and medical and executive partners.
  • Promotes a positive workplace environment and contributes to a team-focused unit to achieve optimal departmental employee engagement results/scores.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides general administrative support: answers phones, makes copies, scans documents, schedules and sets up conferences, meetings and webinars.
  • Collaborates on designing, implementing, and evaluating programs to meet the identified learner needs. Presents information to management to support decision-making. Supports the execution of educational activities (conferences, workshops and webinars) including registration, preparing documents, tracking attendees, etc.
  • Attends selected CME presentations to provide on-site assistance with program implementation.
  • Coordinates aspects of multiple, simultaneous online and live CME activities, including events, participants, and registration modules; evaluation and certificate issue functions; online payment; homepage administrator, calendar, forms, etc.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Completes, coordinates, maintains, and submits, as indicated, all completed CME program records and reports in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to support department/entity goals.
  • Oversees and executes all CME accreditation procedures.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks to meet the needs of department. Completes activity/productivity & other reports on timely basis. Recommends solutions to achieve department financial objectives.
  • Manages financial functions of activities, including activity expenses and registration, vendor support, and educational grants.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Analyzes and assesses present and future needs, trends, challenges, and opportunities related to CME operations.
  • Assists in the development of the strategic planning and business planning processes and activities related to CME services through active participation and facilitation of the planning process.
  • Attends workshops and other educational programs, to ensure awareness of current developments and trends. Expands individual knowledge, completing and updating the My Development Plan on an on-going basis.

  • Previous experience in healthcare environment and Continuing Medical Education (CME) related position preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
