Overview

The Senior Vice President Supply Chain position has executive responsibility for the supply chain management operation across all business entities of Houston Methodist which includes sourcing, contracting, strategic procurement, value analysis, warehousing, distribution, management of capital assets (excluding real estate), and routine purchasing for equipment selection and procurement associated with major construction projects. This also includes a self-distribution model and biomedical engineering.

Responsibilities

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for supply chain vendor management across organization.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Participates as a member of appropriate leadership teams to implement the vision, strategies, and priorities of the organization.
  • Develops strategic alignment plan with physicians and clinicians for the acquisition of new products, equipment, and technology.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and for managing the entire supply chain process of negotiation, acquisition, consumption, delivery and inventory of supplies within the context of a major healthcare system.
  • Responsible for coordinating all routine purchasing and equipment selection and procurement associated with major construction projects.
  • Develops strategies and a vision for improvement of productivity and quality for all supply chain operations of Houston Methodist.
  • Responsible for Biomedical Engineering, including equipment maintenance and equipment plan development for obsolescence and end-of-life replacement.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Balances organizational resources (e.g., people, money, equipment, across multiple business units.
  • Responsible for the strategic contracting and procurement of supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and services in excess of $1 Billion.
  • Oversees efforts to minimize supply and equipment costs, streamline processes and increase efficiencies with key stakeholders.
  • Establishes appropriate metrics to monitor supply expense trends and ensures optimal use of ERP system.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Explores new processes, best practices, and new technologies for future planning and potential implementation.
  • Responsible for the completion of the development of new Distribution Center and execution of self-distribution model that replaces current self-distribution/distributer model.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, finance, economics, or related field
  • Master's degree preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Eight years management experience
  • Progressively complex managerial experience in contracting, sourcing, procurement, value analysis, and logistics
  • Experience in the management of transportation, warehousing and distribution
  • Experience in managing Biomedical Engineering
  • Experience in an acute care, multi-hospital and academics system preferred.

License/Certification
